Heidi Klum off sick from 'AGT,' says she's unable to get a coronavirus test - Page Six

Heidi Klum has explained her absence from the “America’s Got Talent” judging table, saying that she’s been sick and unable to secure a test that would let her know if she’s battling the novel coronavirus COVID-19 or merely a seasonal flu or cold.

“I just wanted you to know why I have not been sitting in my ‘America’s Got Talent’ seat and just gone to work,” Klum explained in an Instagram story. “It started all with like a chill, feeling feverish, cough, runny nose. I’m just not feeling good, so that’s why I’ve stayed home, to not infect any other people.” (Klum was snapped out and about in LA in a chic airbrushed trench as recently as March 10th; perhaps she rallied.)

“I hope it’s just a cold,” she continued. “I would love to do the corona test, but there just isn’t one here. I tried with two different doctors, and I just can’t get one. Stay safe, everyone. Stay home if you don’t feel good.”

Friday morning, the FDA fast-tracked authorization for an automated coronavirus test aimed at, ideally, speeding up screening for the disease tenfold. Testing in the US has thus far been impeded by imperfect kits first sent out by the federal government in February, which gave some false results.

Klum and ‘AGT,’ meanwhile, have been battling a story only slightly less toxic than a flulike pandemic: After defending the show from Gabrielle Union’s claims of a noxious backstage environment, Klum told Page Six in February that she was subject to ridicule up to and including — horror of horrors — being called “a white woman.”
