Gone are the days of Miley Cyrus' long blond locks, but she'll be rocking business in the front, party in the back with her latest hairdo, courtesy of her mother Tish Cyrus.
The mother of the "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" singer showed off her snipping skills in a short Instagram video yesterday (Nov. 26) documenting the impromptu 'do. The younger Cyrus' hairstylist Sally Hershberger described the look as a "modern mullet," which is what the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer rocked back in the day during the pinnacle of his career.
One fan lamented on Hershberger's Instagram, commenting on the stylist's proclaimed "PUNK VIBE" selfie of Cyrus, "This is the worst haircut I’ve ever laid my eyes on u call urself a hairstylist," @mileysgem wrote her. "now this is gonna be all over tmz and the news plus the locals that don’t like Miley are gonna think she’s going through a meltdown again why can’t we ever win gonna go cry now bye! That was all."
Hershberger sniped back at the fan in the most straight-forward way. "@mileysgem first of all if you knew anything about hair it's the position she's in that's why it looks that way, it's 100% even and she also had it straightened so it's more severe which I actually like," she commented. "that being said chill out and know it's a modern mullet which is very cool but it's something you probably aren't even well-versed in sorry but not sorry."
Cyrus herself jumped in the conversation about her mullet when she posted a tweet of a British Vogue article on her Instagram story today (Nov. 27) talking about the popstar following the footsteps (or haircuts) of David Bowie and Joan Jett. But like father, like daughter, the 27-year-old singer set the record straight.
"It runs in the family @billyraycyrus," she wrote on her Instagram story.
