Gwozdz appeared briefly on The Bachelorette before leaving the show for unspecified reasons three episodes into the season. At the time, there were rumors that something in his past caused him to be removed from the show, but Gwozdz said his departure was the result of a discussion between him and the producers.

Sadly, Gwozdz is not the first person connected with The Bachelor franchise who has died. At least five other people associated with the shows have passed away.

Christy Caserta

Lawyer Christy Caserta competed on Season 15 of The Bachelor in 2011. She didn’t make it past the first round of eliminations in the season that ultimately saw second-time Bachelor Brad Womack hand the rose to Emily Maynard

Caserta died on Oct. 4, 2018, after experiencing a seizure, Us Weekly reported. She was 38 years old.

Michael Nance

After her relationship with Womack ended, Maynard went on to appear on The Bachelorette Season 8. Michael Nance was one of 25 contestants that season. He was eliminated in week four.

During his time on the show Nance, who worked as a rehab counselor, talked about his addiction to prescription painkillers. He died on May 28, 2017, due to multiple drug toxicity, People reported. He had taken cocaine, heroin, Clonazepam, and Gabapentin shortly before dying, his autopsy revealed.

Eric Hill

Avid traveler Eric Hill competed on Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette in 2014. But the 31-year-old sadly passed away before his episodes aired. Dorfman and the remaining contestants learned of his death in a paragliding accident during the filming of the show. Dorfman broke down in tears upon hearing the news, lamenting that she’d sent him home after the two had a disagreement.

Erin Storm

Erin Storm, then 33, competed on season 12 of The Bachelor in 2008, vying to win the heart of Matt Grant. She was sent home in week 3. In 2016, Storm died in a private plane crash. She was the only person on board the Airborne XT-912 that crashed shortly after takeoff at the Hawthorne Municipal Airport in Hawthorne, California, E! News reported.

Gia Allemand
