One would be forgiven for thinking that the only way to make an impact at the Grammys was with a bold fashion statement. But subtlety can also result in style wins. Case in point: when South Korean pop sensation BTS took to the red carpet at the Staples Center tonight, they did so in Daniel Lee’s understated Bottega Veneta menswear. The antithesis of look-at-me fashion, Lee’s aesthetic relies on clean lines, neutral colors, and style that whispers rather than shouts.
In shades of black, slate, and tan, the group mixed suiting and outerwear to create a cohesive look. Although their outfits differed only by degrees, the individuality managed to shine through—RM’s pale trench and sweater combo suited him perfectly, as did Jimin’s striking brown and smoke colorblocked leather topper—resulting in a buzzy menswear moment on music’s biggest stage.
