Alien Gadgets can help turn the tide of the explosive, often ridiculous FPS combat against never-ending hordes of enemies that is characteristic of Serious Sam 4. In the game, Sam and his friends defend earth from all varieties of alien creatures bent on causing chaos. In the fourth installment, a prequel to its predecessor Serious Sam 3, Sam and his team battle and quip their way around Europe during the Mental War.

Some of the combat can be quite tricky, particularly when players face some of the in-game bosses like the Giant Crab (Swamp Hive) or Lord Achriman. Because of this, Gadgets will be of great use in these combat situations. Gadgets are one-time use items found as secrets or rewards for completing side quests. There are Gadgets for everything from offense to defense, to stat boosts. One of the new Gadgets appearing exclusively in Serious Sam 4 is the Time Warp, an uncommon sphere of Sirian origin that can dilate and slow the passage of time, allowing the player to defeat hordes of enemies easily. It is one of the best Gadgets in the game, so players should be sure to find and save them for the most demanding of enemies.

Where to Find The Secret Time Warp Gadget in Serious Sam 4

Sam confronts the Giant Crab in Serious Sam 4

Players will only receive the Time Warp Gadget as the reward for completing the final side quest in Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the third level in the game. In the later levels, players will earn more of these in secrets.

Players can get their first ones after Dr. Kiesel tells Sam about the alien artifact Hermann Stein was researching. Once players find all the alien artifacts, Kiesel will give them several Time Warps.

When a player throws the Time Warp Gadget, it will create a time bubble that will slow down any enemies and all their ammunition. The player will not be affected by this time bubble and will be able to easily eliminate the enemies. The device is high-accuracy but only has a low-to-medium range of effect, so players may need to get in close to use it.

Some players suggest using the Time Warp when fighting Lord Achriman during his boss encounter in the middle of the game. This can slow down his lightning attacks and make it easier for players to get his health down. His boss battle is particularly difficult, as he tends to move around and zero in on the player's location. Saving a few Time Warps and other Gadgets, like Black Hole, may improve a player's chances. Otherwise, the Time Warp works best when players use it while they are near death against a large horde of enemies, as the Gadget makes picking off individual enemies and dodging projectiles far easier.
