Disney has pushed back “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” again due to the coronavirus pandemic. Having previously shifted it from May 2021 to November 5th 2021, it has now been moved again to March 25th 2022.
The Sam Raimi-directed film sees Benedict Cumberbatch returning as the Sorcerer Supreme alongside Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor reprising their roles. Elizabeth Olsen has also been tapped to reprise her role as Scarlet Witch.
In addition, Disney has moved Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” up by a week from February 18th 2022 to February 11th 2022. Star Chris Hemsworth, currently out doing promotion for “Extraction,” tells The Philadelphia Inquirer that the new “Thor” is: “one of the best scripts I’ve read in years. It’s Taika at his most extreme, and at his best. If the version I read is the one we get running with, it’s going to be pretty insane.”
As a result of all this, they have also removed an untitled live-action movie set for March 25th 2022 and an untitled 20th Century Fox film slated for April 8th 2022. A Disney live-action film will now take that April slot, while an untitled event movie has been set for July 9th 2021.
