Disney is releasing a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of The Mandalorian, and that’s all fine and dandy, but the real pressing question we all have is: How much Baby Yoda will be in it?
Well, a brief trailer promises a lot of behind-the-scenes looks at Baby Yoda, the actors interacting with Baby Yoda, and the directors directing Baby Yoda. The comfort and joy we need in these trying times.
Not only does the trailer show the puppet on set being absolutely adorable, it also has director Deborah Chow share an anecdote about how legendary actor/director Werner Herzog — you may remember that he was so moved by Baby Yoda that he cried on set — directing the puppet itself. It’s a testament to the power of practical effects and Baby Yoda’s big, luminous eyes.
The Mandalorian was Disney Plus’ big launch show, a Star Wars tale following a lone bounty hunter taking care of the aforementioned Baby Yoda (who is technically referred to as “The Child,” but c’mon). The second season is set to premiere this October, with the third currently in production. Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, an eight-part docuseries, premieres on Disney Plus on May 4 (haha, get it?).
