Watch Pete Davidson’s “Drake Song” on SNL - Pitchfork

Pete Davidson share a video for a song called “Drake Song” on this week’s self-isolated episode of Saturday Night Live. It’s Davidson’s approximation of what happens in a Drake song. (“I miss my ex,” “No. 1 on the Billboard”). Davidson also did a rap song about the music video trope of waving money around. In this case, he has $2,000. That one’s called “Andre 2000.” Watch Davidson’s videos below.

This week’s sketches were created by cast members staying home during the COVID-19 epidemic, and featured Tom Hanks as a remote host. The episode also featured a performance from musical guest Chris Martin, who covered Bob Dylan’s “Shelter From the Storm.” Former SNL cast members paid tribute to the late Hal Willner with a Lou Reed cover.

Davidson’s nod to Drake comes after the rapper released his new “Toosie Slide” single along with a simple set of dance moves. Drake shared a video for the track on April 3, and it features Drake dancing through his Toronto apartment alone while decked out in a mask and gloves. He surprise released two new tracks, “When to Say When” and “Chicago Freestyle,” on February 29. Recent months have also seen Drake collaborating with Lil Yachty (“Oprah’s Bank Account”) and Future (“Desires” and “Life Is Good”).
