The Nanopresso Portable Espresso Maker uses a pumping system to release an inky 2.7-ounce shot.
This clever new gadget from the MoMA Design Store provides a well-made espresso at a moment’s notice. Hot water and coffee grounds are enclosed in separate compartments in its compact housing; they join forces through a hand-operated pressure pumping system to release an inky 2.7-ounce shot. A tiny cleaning brush and a measuring scoop fit into the assembly along with the cup, and it has a zippered, insulated carrying case. The overall length is seven inches, with the case, and it weighs less than a pound. It can also be ordered from the manufacturer Wacaco in Hong Kong.
Nanopresso Portable Espresso Maker, $85 ($76.50 for members), store.moma.org; $69.90 (15 percent off with the code FATHER’S DAY 2022) from wacaco.com.
