Gadget of the week: Superstrata E-Bike
This 3D-printed e-bike has whipped up a storm of interest on crowdfunding website Indiegogo, raising more than €4m in pre-orders with three weeks still to run. Made from one solid chunk of carbon-fibre composite, the customisable bike weighs 11kg while buyers can send their measurements and have the frame made to measure. Makers claim the 3D-printing process gives it one of the strongest carbon-fibre frames ever made, with no vulnerable joints. The 125Wh lithium ion battery fits inside the discrete lower tube and takes two hours to charge. A 250w rear hub motor gives it a top speed of 32kph and estimated maximum range of 96km.
